Map the product before you rename anything
Renaming events without an inventory just relocates the confusion.
Teams under pressure often start a “cleanup sprint” by inventing better names. Two weeks later they have two generations of synonyms and a warehouse full of both. The chart looks new; the argument is the same.
Start with an inventory of what already fires. Walk the product on the devices your users hold. List every screen view, intent, and system confirmation before you propose a single rename.
Put ownership beside each row on day one. An event without an owner becomes a free-form dump that nobody trusts by the next quarter.
In Application Event Map engagements we spend the opening days only on that inventory—because synonyms have to be visible before any rename is worth debating.
